Taking a ‘One PPG’ approach for JEC World 2024

March 2024 saw the return of JEC World, the international trade show for composite materials which is held annually in Paris, France.

JEC World is a global hub for manufacturers and businesses working with composite materials. This three-day event highlights the latest technologies and solutions emerging from the industry and offers an inspiring setting for networking and business opportunities.

The event gave PPG a prominent platform to share our newest technologies with a global audience and meet with decision makers looking to improve their processes, with last year’s show hosting more than 12,000 exhibitors and attended by 40,000 industry professionals.

Growing use of composite materials

The use of carbon fibre, fibreglass, and other composites is growing rapidly across many different industries, including those where PPG has a significant presence such as aerospace and automotive refinishing, This is largely down to the strength and versatility of these lightweight materials.

PPG offers a wide range of environmentally friendly and efficient paint systems for composites. These systems deliver a perfect finish and help support our customers in making a smooth transition to these innovative materials.

Taking a stand

As a global market leader with solutions spanning a wide range of industries and applications, we chose to embrace a true ‘One PPG’ approach for our JEC World exhibition stand.

PPG’s stand showcased many of the advanced products created specifically for composite materials by PPG’s Automotive Refinish and Aerospace business units. We also ensured that our stand demonstrated our ongoing commitment to sustainability. Covering a space of 105 m2, our area was entirely paper-free and utilised video screens and other technologies to share information about our solutions.

Looking to the future

As Greek philosopher Aristotle said, “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” This applies not only to composite materials – which combine multiple elements to form a stronger compound – but also to PPG.

Laura Egido, Marketing Specialist, PPG Aerospace, EMEA, explains why participating as One PPG was the best choice for 2024:

“The use of composite materials in the aerospace industry is growing, so it was important for us to adapt our offer to better support our customers. PPG Aerospace has participated in the JEC World exhibition for several years, but as we are now seeing composites used in many of the industries PPG is a part of – not only aerospace – it made sense for us to adopt a more collaborative One PPG approach this year.”

“The composites market is full of opportunities for PPG Refinish,” explains Flavia dalla Riva, Commercial Transportation/Light Industrial Coatings Segment Director, PPG Refinish.

“Attending the JEC World trade show gave us an excellent opportunity to explore the current global landscape more in depth and to build new relationships with an array of composite manufacturers. We were also able to promote the products and services we can deliver as a global paint supplier.”
