New generation of direct to metal topcoats launched

SELEMIX®, the leading brand for light industrial coatings (LIC) from PPG, has launched its new generation of direct to metal topcoats. Presented in striking new livery, “Direct Pro” builds on the success of the brand’s established product range to deliver increased productivity and corrosion resistance, as well as significant material, time and energy savings across a wide range of industrial applications.

“The highest value in our industry is process time: with the launch of Direct Pro we aim to increase the productivity of light industrial processes and give time back to our users, without compromising performance,” Ignasi Roig, Product Platform Manager EMEA at PPG Refinish explains.

The new 7-159 Direct Pro two-pack topcoat enables direct application to a vast variety of substrates without the need for a primer. Thanks to its impressive anticorrosive properties and outdoor resistance, Direct Pro is the perfect alternative to the standard two-stage (primer + topcoat) process. 7-159 is suitable for the finishing and protection of any light industrial object from machinery to mining, agricultural or construction equipment, providing a high gloss finish.

DIRECT PRO BENEFITS:

Ignasi is sure, “Direct Pro customers will benefit from its easy, quick and direct application which delivers outstanding coverage with just one layer, as well as faster curing times. Direct Pro impresses with a baking temperature of only 50°C during a shorter time, enabling users to reduce their energy consumption. Less solvent emissions also contribute towards healthier working conditions and a reduced environmental footprint.”

The launch of Direct Pro and accompanying ancillaries will be phased across all EMEA territories from the second quarter of this year on. Further binders to deliver a full range of gloss levels, varying from flat matt to gloss will follow very soon.
